Market Wrap International:

U.S. equities ended higher as renewed demand for AI-related technology stocks, led by Microsoft and semiconductor names, offset concerns over elevated oil prices and Treasury yields, while easing oil prices and continued expectations for a possible improvement in Middle East energy supplies provided some support to risk sentiment. European equities ended higher as lower oil prices eased some inflation concerns and supported travel and leisure stocks, while investors remained cautious over elevated bond yields and Middle East developments; the broader STOXX 600 advanced, with the DAX, FTSE 100 and CAC 40 also finishing higher. Asian markets ended mixed in the previous session, with Japan’s Nikkei 225 supported by AI-related shares and dividend-related buying, while Hong Kong’s Hang Seng weakened as higher bond yields, oil prices and Middle East uncertainty weighed on sentiment; Chinese and South Korean markets were affected by holiday closures.
